The Blue & White Funeral Wreath

Blue flowers are a bit different in floristry. There are only two naturally blue cut flowers we can reliably get hold of all year round — delphinium and eryngium — and that’s exactly why we use them in our Blue & White Elegance Wreath. We don’t dye flowers, and we don’t use purple and call it blue. Blue is blue.

Beautiful white roses give the wreath its main focal flowers, with natural blue delphinium and eryngium running throughout the design. We’ll usually use white lisianthus too because it gives us a fuller flower without taking over, while the smaller white flowers are florist choice and are there to bring everything together.

We deliberately keep the larger flowers quite controlled in this wreath. You won’t usually see big germini running through it because they can overpower the blue. The roses do the heavier work, then the smaller blue flowers are allowed to stand out properly around them.

The blue and white is the whole point of this wreath. Some people simply love those colours, and it’s also a very popular choice for Sheffield Wednesday supporters. Either way, we keep it properly blue and white rather than drifting into purple because it’s easier.

Every wreath is individually handmade by the florists at Townend Florist in Sheffield, with the smaller flowers chosen to suit what’s looking particularly good when we’re buying for your order while keeping the same blue-and-white character.

Available in 12", 14", 16" and 18". The larger the wreath, the more roses, delphinium, eryngium and seasonal flowers we use to keep the design full and balanced.

The 16" and 18" sizes can also be used on the coffin if you’d prefer a blue-and-white wreath as the main funeral flowers.
