Confessions of a Florist: Peony Season Has Arrived

I've finally started a blog.

After only having a website since 2011, I'd say that's pretty good going. 😂

If you've never seen peonies before, you'll probably wonder what all the fuss is about.

Most of them arrive looking like little green balls that seem determined not to open.

Then a few days later they've exploded into flowers the size of your hand and suddenly everyone is obsessed.

Including florists.

That's the thing about seasonal flowers.

They're here for a short time, they put on a spectacular show and then they're gone until next year.

A bit like summer in Sheffield.

This week it's peonies.

In a few weeks it might be hydrangeas.

Then sunflowers.

Then dahlias.

Then before you know it somebody will be asking me about Christmas.

Flowers move with the seasons and that's one of the things I love most about them.

So while peony season is here, I've put together a simple bouquet of British peonies, peach statice and fresh foliage for £27.50.

No gimmicks.

Just lovely flowers.

And because you've actually made it to the end of my first ever blog post, I'll let you in on a little secret...

The bouquet isn't listed anywhere obvious on the website.
